How to do spot painting on diary
“Spot Painting of the Diary, Notepad” is intended for beginners to master this technique. With this master class, I wanted to show the beginners “points” how to avoid small disappointments when transferring an image and painting it, how to take into account the shortcomings in the design of the front side of the product.
This will look like a diary from the front side. In order not to be confused, I try to dot the front and back sides with a slight difference.
In the first part, paint the reverse side.
Today we will paint a notebook with a hard cover. In general, it should be noted that I do not like hard covers. However, decorated with painting, even a hard cover looks so attractive that you already do not pay attention to what material it is made of. Yes, and start to fill your hand should be on less expensive workpieces.
For work we will need:
alcohol and cotton pad,
contours: light gold and gold, purple metallic, purple, violet mother of pearl, purple glitter, dark red, purple metallic – Tahir,
ruler,
printout of the drawing,
white pencil on all surfaces,
protective acrylic lacquer.
First, take alcohol and a cotton pad and wipe the whole surface well, not excluding the concavity.
I usually paint the products from all sides, so I start with the back. So immediately you can see where and what you can change later. For the painting, I came up with and printed out two drawings (I create the drawings myself in 99.9% of cases). To determine which of them will look more interesting, we cut out the two drawings according to the size of the diary and, alternately, apply them.
The first option made me more comfortable. I take a printout and line all the lines with a white pencil, then tightly press it against the cover and edge the ruler several times with an effort to draw a picture (on a hard, slightly ribbed cover, it prints worse than on leather and leatherette).
If necessary, we correct the drawing with a pencil. Now the painting itself is the most fascinating. Since the background is not dark enough and not very interesting for painting, the golden and its shades will be absolutely winning here. I’ll start with light gold – I “dot” them with an inner circle, and the outer one just with gold.
The golden “point” of the petals and a broken line along the petals. With the same gold, we carefully perform long “blades” between the petals. Violet metallic walk inside the petals and “blades”.
While this part of the picture dries up, we pass light gold higher in neat chains:
Now again, along the violet, we pass the petals inside, and on both sides of the “shoulder blades” we make gold tendrils.
Inside the petals there is little space left – there we put the dark red dots. Under the golden mustache are purple strokes and curls beneath them again with golden tendrils.
Now back to the outer strip. We will decorate it with dark red dots. That they were at the same distance from each other, first arrange the points in the corners (photo above). Then we divide each distance by one more point in half and between the rest we set one more point. Light gold pass through all the lines of “diamonds”.
Inside each medium diamond we go through one purple chain, and the remaining place – with a purple metallic. The edges of the diamonds are sharpened with gold, and the middle part is traced by strokes of violet mother-of-pearl. Inside the “pipok” put dark red dots.
When it’s dry, remove the pencil lines with a wand if they look somewhere. Make the marking of the divergent grid and between the golden lines neatly go with the purple glitter
Now along the outer line of light gold with the same contour, put a chain of neat points – it will serve as an expressive separator between the pattern and the grid.
Next, dot the grid, but at the same time leave the intersection of lines untouched:
At the intersections, we put the points in a purple metallic – it fits most of the background color.
That, it would seem, is all. But look how unfinished the picture looks. To give a complete look to the whole back side of the notebook, we make the same small gold perimeter chain with the same light gold. And the finishing touches: the gold chain along the edge of the spine and along it the purple points with a sparse chain.
After completely drying, cover the entire backside with varnish. The painting will immediately play, it will become brighter and more expressive.
Here are two photos. On the first – without varnish, on the second – after coating with varnish.
For the reverse side of the notebook such a painting is suitable, but I’ll change the front side a little, quite a bit – in my opinion, there was not enough density and brightness of the main picture. But about this in the second part of the master class.
I repeat: if you really want to try to decorate your diary on this MK, and do it for the first time, then do not buy it right away, take it with a hard cover – they are cheaper.
Create with pleasure!
